Labor legislation news in 2024

Bulgaria: Sick leaves payment – changes from 2024
Starting in 2024, employers in Bulgaria will cover only the initial two days of sick leave, providing 80% of the average daily gross labor remuneration, a change from the previous coverage of three days. Businesses see this reduction in sick leave costs as a chance to invest more and potentially raise wages.
Romania: Medical checks
According to Labor Code of Romania, A medical certificate upon hiring an applicant, represents a mandatory requirement for concluding an individual employment contract, in order to determine whether the applicant is fit for the job. In case the medical certificate is missing, the contract is null and void.
Ukraine: Change of minimum wage 2024
There is a change in minimum wage in Ukraine :
-from January – 7100 UAH ( approx. 180 USD)
-from April – 8000 UAH ( approx. 205 USD)
This change will have impact on maximum taxable salary base for Single Social Contribution – 22%, which will come up to 106500 UAH (2730 USD) and 120000 UAH ( 3080 USD) accordingly
